Yellowstone National Park (USA) is the most well-known national park in the United States. While it isn't the largest national park (that applies to the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park & Preserve in Alaska), people love coming here to take pictures of animals, watch Old Faithful erupt, hike and explore the land of Wyoming.

Bannock Trail Trailhead - 5 miles
Mud Volcano Trail - 1 mile
Pebble Creek - 12 miles
Slough Creek Trailhead - 3.5 miles
If you're just looking to be on top of the world, then hike up any of these mountains or areas:
Amphitheater Mountain
Hurricane Mesa
Indian Peak
Mt. Washburn
Pilot Peak
Lamar Valley
Drive through the scenic Lamar Valley during your trip to see bison, grizzly bears and wolves up close. The tributary is 40-miles long, so you and your family can take gorgeous pictures of the landscape and animals for hours. You can also walk or fish along the Lamar River or Butte River.
Be sure to visit the rock formation called Soda Butte, too. You'll be able to see more bison and a dormant geyser that was active a century ago.
Old Faithful
The most well-known spot of the park, Old Faithful is one of the few geysers in the park that has predictable eruptions of hot water. There are around 500 similar geysers in the national park, such as Grand, Castle, Daisy, Riverside, Lone Star Geyser and more. You can see predictions for these landmarks here.
Yellowstone Lake
A gorgeous lake in Wyoming, Yellowstone Lake is the "largest high elevation lake in the United States (above 7,000 feet)," according to the National Park Service. This lake features crystal clear water, roaming bison, the largest population of cutthroat trout in the United States and frozen waters until May or June. Most people like to go to this lake to fish or enjoy the scenery, as the water is usually cold. Besides trout, you can fish for grayling and whitefish. Just be sure to have a license.

There's nowhere I've been that comes close to the experience I had in Yellowstone National Park. It's one of a kind and a definite must do! If you'll be hiking or exploring the area, get (or rent) bear spray and learn when/how to use it.

My first of many National park visits and what a way to start. Geysers, prismatic lake, wildlife, canyons! Inspirational is the word that comes to mind. Heavy traffic throughout so bring some snacks drinks and music and stay patient, it's absolutely worth it. If you're tenting it gets real chilly at night so dress warmly.
